Ontario's Garden Series
This ongoing series of paintings narrates my visual stories featuring various scenes of farming and horticultural landscapes in Norfolk County, known as Ontario's Garden...

Courage
The future is in a stormy race,
A twisting race of circuit binary,
For wicked and for good,
The future's all of ours to face,
With courage beyond ordinary.
30"x40"x1.5"
Oil paint, molding paste, mica powder, paint brush fibres and sand on canvas.
$ 2045

Hope
A beacon to break the blues,
A ray of light to show the way,
From a withered field of winter's blues,
A dark horse brings hope for a better day!
Mixed media (oil, mica powder and paint brush fibres) on canvas
36"x48"x1.5"
All sides painted.
Inspired by a late winter drive down to my Turkey Point cottage. The sun was trying to peek out from behind a super dense cloud and gave me a feeling of hope. The rest came from my imagination and fused with scenes from multiple local Norfolk County farmlands.

In a Sphere
30" round
Oil paint, mica powder, paint brush bristles, molding paste on Rustic Burl & Co. maple wood panel
This painting was inspired by the name of Inasphere Wines, their farm and scenic location next to the St. Williams marsh within the Long Point Biosphere Region.
We make our journey in a biosphere,
Our way within to the water's edge,
To the joy of life we all hold dear,
On which we thrive in a living sphere.

Remember Yesterday
This painting was partly inspired by Norfolk County's tobacco farming heritage and partly inspired by a lovely memory from one of my close friends.
Many smaller family owned tobacco farms have now been repurposed into other horticultural productions. I love that many of the charming iconic stick kilns have been preserved. My friend who grew up on a tobacco farm during tobacco's heyday told me stories of how she used to play in the tobacco field at summers' end. She had so much fun running between rows of huge tobacco plants with her arms outstretched, and hands brushing against the large leaves as she ran. I painted this to capture her narrated cherished memory from her childhood.
Mixed media (oil, molding paste, and mica powder) on canvas
18"x24"x1.5"
All sides painted.

Burning Kiln (Sold)
Inspired by the Burning Kiln Winery.
Burning Kiln -
Burning skies from setting sun,
Old tobacco kiln had its run,
A stick kiln it was called,
Burning kiln it's now called!
Mixed media (oil and brush bristles) on canvas 16"x20"x1.5". All sides painted.
Textural highlight: Paint brush bristles combined with oil paint creating grass-like texture to the grass around the kiln.
