Tales of The Lake Series
A series of paintings depicting my stories inspired by events, activities and places around Lake Erie and other lakes of Ontario.
Full Sail Ahead
Living at my cottage in Turkey Point has many perks, and witnessing a gorgeous red sky is one of them. I have also seen a lot more strange cloud formations.
For this painting, I imagined a determined sailor delightfully sailing into a red sunset, gaining a following of strange clouds that look like yachts or sail boats. I think I could use this sailor's determination at some point in my life.

Show the Way
I love seeing photos of milky way captured through a camera and always thought painting the milky way would be a challenge. Here's my first attempt at painting the milky way using mica powder shimmer to bring it to life. Very happy with how it turned out!
Sometimes elements in the natural landscape just fantastically align perfectly with man-made structures to create a story. This painting captures one of those magical moments.

Waking Aurora
When I saw the Aurora Borealis over Lake Erie recently, it reminded me of the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. I remembered fondly the joy of reading my favourite fairy tale as child. Like Aurora waking after a long slumber, Aurora Borealis was wakened after a long solar cycle:
What a joy to see
Aurora above Lake Erie
Sleeping Beauty is awake
Just above the boat wake

Sail the Eclipse
I was so fortunate to witness the once-in-a-lifetime event in Turkey Point from the shore of Lake Erie. As the moon slowly engulfed the sun, turning it into a crescent sun, I noticed that the lake was somehow turning greener and bluer! Strange crescent shaped spots of light also started appearing in the shadows of tree branches! This painting is my reimagination of the magical phenomena I witnessed.

The Calm Before
With fall approaching, rainy and wet weather is upon us. Anyone familiar with The Jetty restaurant and MacDonald Marina in Turkey Point should recognize this view! This painting was inspired by the calm Lake Erie water in the channel behind the restaurant while I was having dinner there. I started imagining what it would look like if a magical storm started rolling in and this painting is the result...

The Old Pier
This nostalgic painting was inspired by old photos of the wooden pier that used to be in front of the Turkey Point Hotel Turkey Point Hotel - Bar & Grill Turkey Point Tourism.
The Old Pier:
In days gone by,
The old pier stood,
What could have been,
Cannot be seen.
